Alltech FEI European Dressage Championships 2009 (double DVD)
The Alltech FEI European Dressage Championships 2009 were held in Windsor, UK. This championships saw more maximum 10 marks given by the judges than ever before. There was a feverish type hype around Edward Gal's "Wonder Horse", Moorlands Totilas and the 9 year old did not let anyone down. He scored 32 maximum 10 marks in the Special and still lost to Adelinde Cornelissen riding Parzival but then he broke a record in the Kur with a score of 90.75%.
In the team competition, The Netherlands were always going to be too strong for the rest but GB (the host nation) were in ecstacy after securing team Silver ahead of the Germans. Top rider, Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris grabbed a dramatic Bronze in the Special. 81 combinations started the dressage phase on the Thursday representing 10 countries with a record 24 riders being first timers. Windy conditions on the first two days made the dressage test even more demanding with Belgium's Karin Donckers leading the way in a tightly packed leader board. The ground conditions were absolutely perfect and the cross country course rode well with 55 completing without jumping penalties, and 16 going inside the time. In the Show Jumping William fox-Pitt and Idalgo put the pressure on the top 3 with an immaculate clear and only Oliver Townend and Flint Curtis could resist his challenge to win their first Badminton title.

Burghley 2009
In blustery conditions, the 49th Burghley Horse Trials attracted 80 of the world's best horses and riders, representing 12 nations from Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil and North America. After the opening dressage phase, Oliver Townend on Carousel Quest led the way but with just 12 penalties separating the top 25, the competition was wide open as 77 contenders prepared for the crucial cross country phase. Despite incurring 3.2 time penalties, he narrowly retained the lead but with just one show jumping fence in hand over Australia's Sam Griffiths on Happy Times and two in hand over New Zealand's Caroline Powell on Lenamore and America's Phillip Dutton on Truluck. Rolex FEI World Cup Dressage Final 2009
The Thomas & Mac Centre in Las Vegas hosted a thrilling final and witnessed a dramatic result. The Queens of dressage, Anky Van Grunsven (NED) and Isabell Werth (GER), were expected to duel for the top honours but after Steffen Peters (USA) won the Grand Prix Qualifier on Ravel, they know they had a fight on their hands. The home crowd willed Peters on and he did not disappoint them, becoming only the second man to win the World Cup Final since it began in 1986. All the top tests are shown in full with a separate button for no commentary. Approx 90 mins.

Great Britain have won the last seven European team titles but few expected them to lead after the dressage and then sweep all before them. Kristina Cook (GBR) would lead from start to finish on Miners Frolic to claim her first Gold with Piggy French (GBR) and Some Day Soon taking Silver. Team Gold went to Great Britain with Italy taking the Silver medal and Belgium took Bronze at this year's European Eventing Championships in France. Approx 80 mins.

The inaugural running of the Express Eventing International Cup saw 19 of the world's top event riders vying for a top prize of £100,000 in the imposing Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. This was the first time event riders have had to ride their dressage tests to music and it was a great spectacle. "Working for the music test helped our dressage massively" said second placed Lucy Wiegersma.
The show jumping and cross country phases saw lots of thrills and spills, with many riders failing to complete the 3 phases but Oliver Townend and his imposing grey Flint Curtis stormed round the stadium in spectacular fashion to a convincing victory. Alltech FEI European Jumping Championships 2009 (double DVD)
The Alltech FEI European Jumping Championships 2009 were held in Windsor, UK and saw a dramatic competition. In the Nations Cup Team event, the leader board was constantly changing and the final results were so close with formidable new Swiss Chef D'Equipe Markus Fuchs. Germany just edged out the Netherlands for the Bronze medal.
In the individual competition, France's disappointment of failing to win a medal in the team was more than alleviated by Kevin Staut (FRA) on the 11 year old Selle Francais stallion, Kraque Boom who took the individual gold medal.
